AB We report a human immunodeficiency virus antibody-negative, profoundly
uremic patient who presented with a CD4+ T lymphocyte count of 133/mm3,
a CD8+ T lymphocyte count of 77/mm3, and a CD3+ T lymphocyte count of
259/mm3. These values decrease significantly below reported levels in
other lymphopenic uremic patients. High-efficiency chronic hemodialysis
resulted in correction of these cytopenias to a normal range within 12
weeks.
